The Trial Of Monogamy $10.09 A male child Udoka, born to a family of five daughters and one son is raised by his single mother after the boy’s father dies prematurely in a rural third world community. The boy drops out of school at a very early age and joins the company of village loafers called "ofekes" and "ofo-ogolis." These specialize in hanging around where there are wedding ceremonies, burial, and chieftaincy installation ceremonies, venues where there will be free food and free drinks. During one of such ceremonies in which Mr. Odike his cousin is taking a second wife, the uneducated Udoka sees, and falls in love with Chioma who is educated and who hails from a completely different social background being a catechist’s daughter. Udoka gets rebuffed. Twist of fate again brings both young people together and through encouragement from Chioma, Udoka goes to school, progresses, and ultimately marries Chioma. Further twist of fate sees the couple move over to Atlanta in America where Chioma trains for, and becomes a registered nurse and starts earning well. Her new situation positions Chioma into seeing Dr. Gerald an attending consultant in the hospital where she works. Chioma falls in love with the rich medical doctor and without provocation, divorces her beleaguered husband who, laden with the burden of debts and child support, flees from Atlanta back to his Akunwanta native land. Chioma gets disappointed by Dr. Gerald after she aborts a baby she was expecting for him. The polygamous nature of the common Akunwanta origin of the divorced former couple holds out the only opportunity whereby Chioma can find a place as a second wife to a now prosperous and polygamous Udoka. The monogamy by law policy in Atlanta as opposed to the accepted polygamy by culture in Akunwanta plays out favorably for both parties as it becomes possible for Udoka to remain monogamous in Atlanta but polygamous in Akunwanta. One man’s apparent poison plays out as another man’s delicious meat. Will the one learn from the other? |
Discovering How To Forgive Yourself; Living A Lifetime Set Free in Only Ten Days!
We have all had different things in life we wish we hadn’t done. Often these things cause us unhappiness as we think about them, while other things cause us such regret we are able to barely live with ourselves and we discover it is hard, if not actually impossible, to excuse ourselves for our actions. Perhaps you know what I am saying. You are so abashed of your actions that you have done that you cannot believe for a minute you could or should excuse yourself. Instead, you feel all you are able to do is spend the rest of your life paying penance for your wrongdoing, in hopes that will take away the oppressive burden of guilt you are living with every day.
Regardless of your past evildoing, you may be freed from the responsibility you now carry, caused by your unwillingness to forgive yourself. You may have sought the forgiveness of Our Lord God for what youve done, yet if you have not managed to excuse yourself, you will remain defeated, maybe bondage, till you choose to be obedient with the Word of God and forgive yourself.
Regularly when we glance at the original meaning and desire of of a word, we are able to better know how to apply it to our lives. This is true as we glance at the Greek word for forgiveness meaning to free fully, i.e. Literally relieve, release, dismiss or let die, pardon, divorce from, depart, dismiss, let go, loose, put ( send ) away, release, set at liberty.
To all who ask, God offers His gift of forgiveness, meaning; He totally frees, releases, dismisses and pardons us from the debt we owe and guilt of our transgressions. He sets us “body, soul and spirit” at liberty. Nonetheless he doesnt stop there. Our Heavenly Father then tells us to pardon others, as well as forgiving ourselves, in the same way we have been forgiven, assuring us the ability, by God’s Spirit, to do so.
How does one go about actually pardoning themselves? There is no formula but the following thoughts may be useful.
First, understand that one needs to make the decision to pardon ones self based primarily on God’s Word to do so. To forgive is a choice and an act of the will is important to cause it to happen.
Leviticus 19:18 claims you shall love your neighbor as yourself… Loving yourself is a command of Our Lord and love always carries with it forgiveness.
Second, if you haven’t already, ask God to pardon you for the injustices you have done. It is important to do that before working thru forgiving yourself. Remember, He’s waiting to forgive you and will graciously do therefore if you only ask Him.
Nehemiah 9:17 But you are a God of forgiveness, Gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in loving kindness.
Then, sit down quietly with The Lord God and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the things that you haven’t let go of or given yourself forgiveness for. Write it all down on a piece of paper. Be certain and put down all the specifics list the names of every person you hurt and the ways in which you hurt them. ( Nobody will see your writings. )
From there express how you’re feeling due to what you did; Are you indignant at yourself? Do you feel ashamed? Undeserving? Be particularly honest, for God knows it all already. This is the best place to release all the emotions youve carried or attempted to reject.
Now, take the decision to forgive yourself as God has forgiven you. Literally release, dismiss, let die, pardon, let go, loose, put ( send ) away, release and set yourself at liberty from the incorrect you are guilty of. Put your evil-doing into His hands and ask Him to fix your emotional wounds and enable you to move on without regrets, let go of the past and start fresh!
Finally destroy your list and throw it in the bin as a visible prompt that the guilt of what youve done has been forgiven and carried away, gone forever.
Now, go and experience the healing, peace and liberty that’s yours to enjoy as you praise God for His power of forgiveness.
