Software Patents and Free Software $81.25 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Opposition to software patents is widespread in the free software community. In response, various mechanisms have been tried to defuse the perceived problem. Patent holders can require infringers of their patents to take out a license to continue using an invention covered by the patent, which may or may not require payment of a fee. Otherwise, the infringer must stop infringing the patent, possibly by removing or modifying the patented feature so that the product no longer infringes. This possibility may be easier with software than other types of inventions since computer program often perform many different functions or a similar result may be achieved in a different, noninfringing manner. Nevertheless, the software may not be useful without the patented feature. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Beginning Database Design Solutions $34.59 This book is intended for IT professionals and students who want to learn how to design analyze and understand databases. The material will benefit those who want a better high-level understanding of databases such as proposal managers architects project managers and even customers. The material will also benefit those who will actually design build and work with databases such as database designers database administrators and programmers. In many projects these roles overlap so the same person may be responsible for working on the proposal managing part of the project and designing and creating the database. This book is aimed at IT professionals and students of all experience levels. It does not assume that you have any previous experience with databases or programs that use them. It doesn’t even assume that you have experience with computers. All you really need is a willingness and desire to learn. This book explains database design. It tells how to plan a database’s structure so the database will be robust resistant to errors and flexible enough to accommodate a reasonable amount of future change. It explains how to discover database requirements build data models to study data needs and refine those models to improve the database’s effectiveness. The book solidifies these concepts by working through a detailed example that designs a realistic database. Later chapters explain how to actually build databases using two common database products: Access 2007 and MySQL. The book finishes by describing some of the topics you need to understand to keep a database running effectively such as database maintenance and security. This book explains database design. It tells how to determine what should go in a database and how the database should be structured to give the best results. This book does not focus on actually creating the database. The details of database construction are different for different database tools so to remain as generally as useful as possible this book doesn’t concentrate on any particular database system. You can apply the techniques described here equally to whatever database tool you use whether it’s Access SQL Server Oracle MySQL or some other database product. Most database products include free editions that you can use for smaller projects. For example SQL Server Express Edition Oracle Express Edition and MySQL Community Server are all free. To remain database neutral the book does not assume you are using a particular database so you don’t need any particular software or hardware. To work through the Exercises all you really need is a pencil and some paper. You are welcome to type solutions into your computer if you like but you may actually find working with pencil and paper easier than using a graphical design tool to draw pictures at least until you are comfortable with database design and are ready to pick a computerized design tool. What is the purpose of the test?
Test provides information on whether or not a product meets the requirements.
What is the difference between quality assurance and testing?
Quality assurance is the set of activities to establish monitor and improve standards of performance for the care received is as effective and as safe as possible. Test provides information on whether or not a particular product meets the requirements. It also provides information when the product to meet the requirements.
What is software quality?
O
Define software quality for me as you understand it?
Quality software is reasonably bug free, delivered to time and within budget, meets requirements and / or expectations, and is easy to maintain. However, quality is obviously a subjective term. Depends of which the "client" is and its impact on the overall scheme of things. Each type of "client" will have its own inclination to "quality" – the service Accounting can define quality in terms of profits while the end user can define quality as easy and error free.
What is the cataloging function in quality control?
Reviews. (Note that documentation can be electronic, not necessarily paper.) Quality management practices must be documented so that may be repeated. Specifications, drawings, business rules, reports inspection, configurations, changes in the code, test plans, test cases, bug reports, manuals, etc., everything must be documented. In an ideal situation should be an easy to find and obtain documents and determining what documentation will be a piece of information particular. Change management for documentation should be used wherever possible.
Explain software development life cycle.
There are seven stages of software development life
1. Starting the project – users identify their business needs.
2. Defining the project – the development team of software translates business requirements into system specifications and placed in the document system specification.
3. System Design – System Architecture team designed the system and write design documents functional. During the design phase of new hypotheses of general solutions and data and process structures are organized.
4. Building the system – the system specifications and design documents were given to the development team of the following modules of code requirements and design documents.
5. System Test – The test team develops the test plan, as required. The software is built and installed on the platform after the test developers have completed development and unit testing. The testers test the software, Following the test plan.
6. Implement the system – after evidence of user acceptance and certification of software installed on the platform of production. Demonstrations and workshops are given to users.
7. Support System – Once the software is in production, the maintenance phase life begins. During this phase, the development team works with the staff development documents to modify and improve the implementation test equipment and works with staff of the test documentation to verify and validate the changes and improved application software.
At what stage of the SDLC is scheduled to begin in your opinion?
process quality control begins in the second phase of software to learn the development life cycle to define the system. testing the actual product will be in testing the system (Phase-5). During this phase computer test verifies that the actual results expected.
Explain the pre-test phase test and acceptance testing.
The pre-test
1. Review of requirements document for Testability: Test will use the requirements document for writing test cases.
2. Set the date of frost: freezing hard date is a date after the computer test system will not accept more programs and changes to documentation development team, unless it is Severity 1 MR. The date is set for the team product will have time to test the final regression.
3. To write a master test plan: It is written by the lead tester and test coordinator. Master Test plan includes a complete test plan test strategy and test resources.
4. Creating tools RM: RM tool must be established once you know the various product modules, developers and testers on the product, the hardware platform and operating system testing will take place.
This information will be available at the end of the first draft architecture document. Both testers and developers are trained to use system.
5. configuring the test environment: The test environment is separate machines, databases and network. This task is performed by the support team. The first time you take some time, then the same environment can be used by versions later.
6. Write the test plan and test cases: Model and Tool decided to write the test plan, test cases and procedures test. The expected results are organized in the test plan based on the categories specified in the role specification. For each property test cases are written in positive and negative. Write test plan must include full product and its interfaces with other systems. After the test plan is completed, a tutorial is made with developers and design team members the basic document of the test plan.
7. The configuration tool test automation: Planning the test strategy on how to automate testing. What are the test case is executed for regression testing. Not all test cases are executed during regression testing.
8. Identify cases of acceptance tests: Select subsets should the first day of testing the system. These tests must be passed to accept the product in the test system.
acceptance test phase:
1. When the product enters the system test, check that it has completed testing integration and must meet the criteria for the output of integration tests.
2. Check integration criteria and entry criteria in the test plan or test product master documents test strategy.
3. Check the integration tests signal outside the criteria sheet.
4. Coordinate the release with product development.
5. As the code migrated environment development for the test environment.
6. Installation and acceptance testing.
testing phase of the product:
1. Test Range: Execution of test cases and verify whether the actual functionality of application corresponds to the expected results.
2. Manual Test initial recommended to isolate the unexpected behavior of the system. Once the application is stable regression test automation may be generated.
3. MR number on the detection of errors.
What is the value of a test group? How do you justify your work and budget?
All products contain software defects and errors, despite the efforts of its development teams. It is important that a third party (not a programmer) to test the product from a viewpoint is more objective and representative of the product user.
Trials Group tests software in terms of requirements or what is required by the user. Testers job is to examine a program and see if it makes you have to do and to see what it does is not supposed to do.
What is the master test plan? What are the benefits? Who is responsible Editor's this?
O
What a test plan? Who is responsible for writing this? What it contains.
O
What a test plan? What is included in a test plan?
A draft plan Software testing is a document that describes the objectives, scope, method and purpose of a software testing effort. The process of preparing a test plan is a useful way to think through the efforts needed to validate the acceptability of a software product. The full document will help people outside the test group understand the 'why' and 'how' of product validation. Should be sufficiently complete to be useful, but not person as completely outside the test group was read. The following are some items to include in a test plan, depending the particular project:
- Title
- Identification of software including version numbers / release
- Version history of document including authors, dates, approvals

The team leader or Mr. QA Analyst is responsible for drafting the this document.
Why the test plan of a controlled document?
Because it controls the testing process. Testers have to follow the test plan during the testing process.
What information to develop a test plan?
The operational requirements document to prepare the test plan.
What are the criteria for entry and exit the system test?
Entry Criteria and output for each test phase is written in the master test plan.
Entry Criteria:
– Criteria for inclusion production has been achieved satisfactorily.
– All installation documents are completed.
– All software available was successfully constructed
– Syāt, test plan is the base line to complete the test plan tutorial.
– Environmental Test half must be configured.
– All Severity 1 integration phase MR test must be closed.
Exit Criteria:
– All test cases in the test plan must be executed.
– / R. All defects are closed or delayed.
– Cycle Test regression must be executed after the closure of the MR.
– All documents are reviewed and signed-off finilized.
If no requirements, how to write your test plan?
If it is not necessary to try to collect as much detail as possible:
- Business analysts
- Developer (if available)
- Documentation version Previous (if any)
- stakeholders (if available)
- Prototypes.
What is testing box white unit tests /?
Unit testing – the most "micro" scale trial to test some of the functions or modules code. Usually done by the programmer and not by testers, as it requires detailed knowledge of market and program design code. It is not always easy to do if the application has a well-designed architecture with tight code and may require the development of driver modules harness test or trial.
Difference between black and white box testing?
black box testing: functional testing based on needs, without knowledge of the internal structure of the program or data. Also known as closed control box.
White Box Testing: test approaches analyze the structure of the program and test data of logic device.
What are the functions of the glass box and tools "black box" tests?
box glass test is also called white box testing refers to tests with a detailed knowledge internal modules. Therefore, these tools are more focused on algorithms, data structures used in the development of modules. These tools make testing of individual modules more likely that the entire application. of black box testing tools refer to the evidence interface, functionality and performance testing of system modules and the entire system.
What is testing black box?
Black box testing is also called system test is performed by testers. Characteristics and product requirements as described in the document requirements are tested.
What is integration testing?
Integration testing – testing of combined parts of an application to determine if they work well together. "Parts" can be code modules, individual applications, client applications and server on a network, etc. This type of testing is especially relevant to client / server and distributed systems.
What are the skills you need to make the box White, integration and testing black box?
For white box testing need to understand how internal module such as data structures and algorithms and access to source code and tests do not understand black box application functionality /.
What regression testing?
Regression testing: Re-testing after fixes or modifications of the software or its environment. It can be difficult to determine the amount of testing is needed, especially towards the end of the development cycle. Automated test tools can be particularly useful for the test ..
Why do regression testing?
For any new functions can be added to the application must be tested to see if the extra features have affected existing functionality or not. Here, instead of re-test all the features of the line scripts created for the existing base can be re-run and tested.
How to do regression testing?
Different test automation tools can be used for regression testing as WinRunner, Rational Robot and Silk Test.
What are the positive scenarios?
Test to see if the application is doing what they do.
What are the negative scenarios?
Test to see if the application is it is not supposed to do.
What is the difference between tool automation and regression tool automation performance?
regression testing tools capture and test playback at a later date. The capture function and reading is fundamental regression testing.
Performance testing tool for determining the load a server can handle. It should have a role in stimulation of many users of a machine, scheduling and synchronization of different users, capable of measuring the network load with a different number of simulated users.
What is the difference between the exception and validation testing?
Validation tests is to demonstrate that the software functions in a manner that can reasonably be expected by the customer. Software testing in accordance software requirements specifications.
Exception test the exception handling (unexpected) while AUT is running. Basically, this test is how to modify the control flow of the AUT, when there is an exception.
What is user acceptance testing?
Also known as beta-test. Once system testing is performed and the system seems stable for developers and testers, engineers systems often invite end users of the software to see if they like the software. If users like the way the software is software, then be delivered the user. Otherwise, the necessary amendments will be made with the software and the software will pass through all stages of the test.
What is manual testing and automated test what?
Manual testing involves testing the software manually perform the actions of the AUT, on the basis of test plans.
automated testing is to test a software application by performing actions on the AUT by using automatic test tool (Such as Quick Test Professional, WinRunner, LoadRunner, Rational root) on the basis of test plans
What is the criterion Smoke?
The test smoke should evolve as the system evolves. Initially, the smoke test will test probably something simple, as if the system can say, "Hello." As the system develops, the smoke test will be more complete. The first test could take a few seconds to run the system develops, the smoke test can reach 30 minutes, an hour or more.
What to absorb evidence?
The software system will be a total of 14 hours. If the system is a control system which is used to move permanently each mechanism instruments during this time. Any other system is expected to carry out his intention to run continuously during this period. The system software should not fail during this period.
What is stress testing, performance testing, security testing, recovery tests and the volume of evidence.
Stress tests: testing if the system can handle peak loads of the period of use resulting a large number of simultaneous users, transactions or arrangements. They must be conducted to stability and performance of the system.
Performance testing: Testing of the system if the system functions are performed at an acceptable level under load of concurrent users. The time to read and update transactions should be collected to determine if. This should be done independently and in a multiuser environment to determine the performance of operations.
Security Testing: Test security system for unauthorized use and access unauthorized data.
Recovery: Testing a system to see how it responds to errors and abnormal conditions, such as system downtime, loss of the aircraft, communications, or power.
Volume test: Tests the system to determine if it can successfully treat large volumes of data fed into the system. Systems can often respond unpredictably when the volume of files large because of the overflow and need.
What is MRI?
MRI is a change request is also known as defect reports, a request to modify the program so that the program does what supposed to do.
Why write RM?
MR is written to report problems / bugs or suggestions in the software.
What information is MR?
O
I describe the basic elements you put in a defect report?
O
What is the procedure for reporting errors?
The error must be communicated and assigned to developers that can be arranged. After the problem is resolved, is set back from the test and decisions concerning the requirements for regression testing to verify that there are still problems elsewhere. If a system problem tracking is in place, it should encapsulate these processes. A variety of commercial tools are available problem-tracking/management software.
Elements below to be taken into account in the monitoring process:
- Comprehensive information on the developers can understand the errors, an idea its seriousness, and play if necessary.
- fault state power (for example, "Released to repeat testing ',' New ', etc.)
- The application name or identifier and version
- The function, module, function, object, screen, etc., where the error occurred
- characteristics of the environment, system, hardware platform including specific
- Test Case Name / Number / ID
- One line description of the error

- Description of the steps to reproduce the bug if not covered by a test case or if the developer did not have easy access to test cases / write measurement instrument test /
- The names and / or descriptions of file / data / messages / etc in the trials
- Fragments of files / messages error / log file excerpts / screen shots / test tool logs that may be useful to find the cause of the problem
- Estimated gravity (Rank 5 level, like 1-5 or common a'low "critical")
- You can reproduce the error?
- Test name
- Test Date
- Report an error on the date
- Name of developer / group / organization the problem is attributed to
- Description of the problem
- Solution Description
- Code section / file / module / class / method is set

- Retest date
- Exit
- requirements for regression testing
- responsible for regression testing tester
- the results of regression tests
This tool allows you to write Dr. RM?
Quality Center, Test Director, Rational ClearQuest, PVCS Tracker
What criteria will continue to affect the severity and date of MRI?
Defects (MR) severity are assigned as follows:
Review: show stoppers (the system can not be used)
High: The system is very difficult to use and, in some cases tend to turn to the key issues, if left untreated.
Middle: The functionality of the system has a big decision, but it is not too critical, but you must arrange for the AUT to go to production environment.
Low: cosmetics (GUI related)
If the functionality of an application had joined an error because the test script fails, to automate the test?
No, we do Once the automation application is checked manually and stabilized. The automation is for regression testing.
You find a bug and the developer says "not possible", what you have to do?
I'll talk to him under what conditions (work environment), the error occurred. I'll provide more details and pictures the error.
How to help developers follow the fault s in the software?
When you provide details of the defects which include the environment, test data, measures, etc. … and help to reproduce the defect in their environment.
What different types of the lady?
